Wolseley to refund Clean Heat Market Mechanism price increases

Wolseley has promised to reverse all price increases levied by boiler manufacturers in relation to the controversial Clean Heat Market Mechanism (CHMM), to support its customer base of tradespeople and to avoid unnecessary impact on consumers. It has also undertaken to refund the increases on any purchases made since 1st January.

Group Chief Operating Officer John Hancock said in an open letter to customers that the move was prompted by Wolseley’s commitment to the trades and its responsibility as market leader in the sector.

He said:

The CHMM was never intended to impact consumers and we do not seek to profit from its application…We recognise our responsibility to you, our customer, to ensure you are well represented and have what you need to run your business and service your customers at a fair price.

The refund applies to any CHMM related price increases on Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Vaillant and Ideal boilers incurred from 1 January.

John continued:

As the market leader, we have an important role to play in our transition to net zero, and we will continue to engage with the government on any consultation in relation to home heating technology, installation, training or otherwise.
