Government heat network specialists urge industry to seize funding opportunities

Developers and public sector urged to think beyond single building heating to create low-carbon networks that can reuse sources of waste heat

Speakers at elemental’s latest webinar on district heating have emphasised that significant funding remains for building new heat networks and for upgrading ageing networks.

Speakers from the Department for Net Zero and Energy Security, the Green Heat Network Fund and the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme called on potential stakeholders to take advantage of the multi-million pound funds still remaining for low-carbon networks. The available schemes include a  programme for matching private funding with public heat networks, called BHIVE, which has been extended to 2025.

At the same time, they urged those in the heating and energy supply chains to explore opportunities for involvement, either by collaborating with potential network owners or by contacting DezNez directly.
