We’re back at the NEC this month for InstallerSHOW, with a programme of free content to support those working on decarbonising public sector buildings.

For social housing professionals, we will have the Housing Hub – featuring the NHIC Home Upgrades conference – with hundreds of expert speakers talking about housing retrofit and zero-carbon newbuild. We’ll be covering ECO funding, delivering projects within the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, tackling fuel poverty and more.

There is also plenty looking at the journey to net zero for bigger buildings, from schools and hospitals to leisure centres and offices. With speakers from Cundall, Midlands Net Zero Hub, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Birmingham Energy Institute, DG Cities, Energy Systems Catapult and Bristol City Council.

Here is a selection of the must-see discussions to add to your schedule, all taking place in the elemental Decarbonising Buildings theatre:

  • The business case for sustainable buildings – why building, or retrofitting, to create energy-efficient, healthy buildings should become business as usual for developers and councils.
  • Strategies for achieving net zero buildings – including practical and effective net zero strategies with examples from both newbuild and retrofit projects.
  • Energy generation for local authorities – looking at the energy generation options that councils should consider, including the importance of addressing energy efficiency at the same time.
  • Delivering energy security with low-carbon fuels & hydrogen micro-CHP – how intelligent and innovative CHP applications are providing both energy resilience and onsite decarbonisation for multiple installations – from residential, commercial and industrial settings.
  • Bristol City Leap: A blueprint for decarbonisation at city-scale – hear how the 20-year plan will transform the city, with huge amounts of renewable energy to be installed on homes, businesses and public buildings.
  • Balancing ventilation, IAQ and energy savings – how to achieve healthy indoor air while minimising heat loss and will also cover the importance of management and maintenance.
  • Improving heat network efficiency – why heat network efficiency is so important, for both operators and customers, and what can be done to improve performance.

We are also organising free-of-charge bespoke visits for two groups – those working on decarbonising education buildings on 27th June and healthcare estates on 29th June. To join either of these groups, which includes workshops tailored for your needs, please email Lucy on ldixon@lyricalcomms.com.

In addition to the programme of content, visitors to the show will be able to discover the latest products and solutions suitable for public sector and commercial buildings. Vetted sustainable solutions will be found in the Wates Innovation Zone. Plus, new for 2023, our Solar Innovations attraction will explore the latest solar and battery storage technologies. Visitors can develop EV knowledge and skills in our The Future is Electric area and discover trends and innovative products in our new Bathroom Zone.

InstallerSHOW runs 27th to 29th June at the NEC in Birmingham. Free registration is open now at installershow.com
