AirEx included in SHED framework for social housing procurement

AirEx Technology has announced that its Floorvent product has been selected to be part of Procurement for Housing’s Social Housing Emerging Disruptors (SHED) framework.

This framework, now in its third iteration (SHED3), aims to provide innovative solutions for the social housing sector to address emerging challenges. AirEx is among 21 suppliers to secure a position on this £100 million framework.

The SHED3 framework, administered by Procurement for Housing (PfH), serves as a platform for facilitating partnerships between innovative suppliers and housing providers across the UK. Through this framework, housing associations access much-needed innovative technologies and services designed to enhance the quality, sustainability, and efficiency of social housing.

AirEx is a smart air brick that helps to mitigate unnecessary heat loss by intelligently controlling airflow to prevent the constant cold draughts created by traditional airbricks. Its flagship product, AirEx Floorvent is designed to prevent heat loss through suspended floors. Often suspended timber floors are not factored into social housing retrofit measures, as traditional insulation is expensive and highly disruptive to residents. Floorvent is simple, non-disruptive to install, and a fraction of the cost of other approaches to insulating suspended timber floors.

The smart ventilation solutions offer social housing landlords and contractors a cost-effective means of preventing underfloor heat loss, reducing energy consumption, and regulating moisture levels. Installing AirEx can also help raise a home’s EPC Rating, by contributing 2-4 SAP points per property.

Richard Kemp-Harper, AirEx Technologies CCO,  said,

The SHED framework is a great example of what support for innovation looks like, with PfH actively leaning into the needs of innovators like AirEx. The result is that it will be significantly easier and quicker for our customers to buy our products to accelerate adoption and deployment in homes.
